Livin in Kentucky

Hi Delicious-

NO!  I didn't watch SYTYCD yet and probably won't be able to until SATURDAY---BS, I know!  So talk amongst yourself but no spoilers!!!  (and if you watched DWTS, at least we finally got rid of the spaz!)

I am, however, starting a new post that I've decided I'll add to everytime something like this comes up.  (I thought about titling this post "Livin in Kentucky/NOT Living in NYC" but decided to stop hating on the NYC)

Because I'm such a new transplant to this part of the country after being an East Coaster (word?  it is now!) my whole life, I am always very aware of the differences...most good, some bad, some just strange.

1.  Instead of a "warning" or "citation" that most police will give out when they pull you over but are nice enough not to give you a ticket (not entirely sure that part even happens in New York), the fine lawmen (/women) come over to your car and ask how you're doing...take your information and pleasantly come back with a "Courtesy Notice".  He cordially explains that I can actually throw it away when I get home but next time I decide not to wait in a line of traffic and cut around using the turning lane, it will cost me $160.  A very pleasant exchange with a bit of southern gentlemanly charm thrown in and I am sufficiently chastised and still scared enough not to do it again.  What a lovely slap on the wrist!  POLITE POLICE OFFICERS

2.  This morning (while it was still dark, 5:30---ick!) I stood on my deck (of which I have three) and looked up at a sky full of brilliant stars and out at the tops of trees that make up the woods behind my house.  UNAFFECTED NATURE!
