Run/Yoga-Yoga/Run and Who Dey!

Hi Delicious-

Another Monday but at least it's gorgeous (looking & feeling) outside and I had a wonderful weekend!  Finally started running on Saturday again and it feels so good to be back.  It was hard though, I'm not gonna lie.  I kind of feel like I'm starting at the beginning again.  I did 4 miles and the first two were challenging on my legs (quads) and my breathing.  By the end though, I felt like I could have kept going so that's always a good sign.  I realized one thing almost instantly when I began running, my posture!  I think 2 weeks of (almost) daily yoga has already made me a better runner.  I'm accustomed to hunching my shoulders in and absorbing the stress of the run right between them and my neck and always having to be conscious of straightening them.  When I started on Friday though I really felt a long, straight line between the crown of my head and the base of my spine...which is what they always have us envision in our yoga postures.  Success!  It felt a lot better to run in my legs than in my shoulders.  After the short but great run I did an hour of Moksha yoga at a beginner's level of heat.  HARD!  Moksha focuses on the strength in the quads...now I know to do that on an off run day!

I continued my two-a-days yesterday but in the reverse order.  I did my Sunday morning Ashtanga (WAY too early at 9am) and then went straight to a 5 mile run.  Pretty sure I should stick to run first, then yoga.  Yoga peaces me out too much to be in a frame of mind to push myself and be fast.  The five miles went slowly and the hills were hard but I perservered and am ready to start normal training for the February Ft. Lauderdale Half Marathon!!!

And can we talk about those BENGALS!!!! WHO DEY?!?!?  And where have they been all this time???  45 points!  Scoring every time you have the ball (except once)?!?!?!  As J put it, "Hell to the Yeah!"  Let's hope they take that confidence and momentum into their Bye Week and bring it back against the Ravens, who we already know we can beat this season!  And if you're not yet following Chad Esteban Ocho Cinco on Twitter...you're missing out.  He's a little bit of a spaz, but always entertaining and with moves like he had yesterday deserves a shout out!  (@OGOchoCinco)

Wow, 5 miles after Ashtanga, don't know if I could've managed that! Yet, I also have found that yoga has really helped being tuned into form and well being while running. Yay on the half marathon plan ... that's exciting.
